This Saturday is a beautiful day on the island of Coloane for the first “real” day of the Super KF World Championship. Clear skies, cool breeze and low humidity led to lower lap times. The 1st two sessions of qualifying saw the most participants and there was no significant improvement in 2nd sessions.
Ben Hanley (Maranello/Maxter) set the fastest time, the only driver to go below 46″. Alessandro Bressan (Kosmic / Vortex), Gary Catt (Tony Kart / Vortex) and Brandon Maïsano (LH / Maxter) were all in the same tenth. Aaro Vainio (Maranello / Maxter) was next in 5th position ahead of De Brabander (Intrepid / TM), Ardigo (Tony Kart / Vortex), Manuel Renaudie (Gillard / Parilla), Armand Convers (Kosmic / Vortex) and Arnaud Kozlinski (CRG / Maxter). So that’s the top 10.
Despite their beautiful brand new graphics, Birel is not the team of the moment: Libor Toman, vice-champion in 2008 was only 18th, ahead of the PCR Simo Puhakka and the first FA Kart, of Davide Gaggianesi in 21st. Gianni Gazzurelli, also on an FA Kart, was pleased to set the 29th fastest time.
