Tony Kart’s drivers controlled the lead early in the race with Ben Cooper at their head, followed by Ignazio D’Agosto and Yu Kanumaru. But Nicolaj Moller-Madsen and Energy had no intention of leaving things as they were. From the back of the grid, we watched for recoveries from Tiene, Luka and Kappis.
Taking advantage of an struggle between D’Agosto and Kanumaru, Moller-Madsen was soon able to attack and pass D’Agosto. Matteo Viganò (Birel / Parilla) had already moved up to 6th. Moller-Madsen then took second place behind Kanumaru but ahead of Cooper and D’Agosto. Then there were several heated lead changes.
Moller-Madsen took the lead on lap 16. Vigano went backwards and retired, Jacob Nortoft (FA Kart / Vortex) mixed in the fray to finish 4th while Moller-Madsen won the race ahead of D’Agosto and Kanumaru.
The stewards did not seem to appreciate the style of the winner and an investigation is ongoing, as we say in F1 …
