Robert De Haan (NLD) could no longer improve his score because of his disqualification at Sarno, so Kajus Siksnelis (LTU) had a great opportunity to win the FIA ??Karting Academy Trophy. He shared the front row of the Final grid with Christian Ho (SGP) while his rivals in the overall standings started from a distance: Paolo Ferrari (ITA) 10th, Joshua Coertze (ZAF) 13th and Oleksander Partyshev (UKR) 19th. Still completely overcast, the sky did not produce any rain.
Ho had a good start at the same time as De Haan and Filip Jenic (SRB), while Siksnelis was 5th behind Maxwell Dodds (GBR). Ho pulled away with a series of very fast laps, while Jenic took 2nd, followed by Dodds and Siksnelis, with De Haan dropping to 5th. Delayed at the start, Elliott Vayron (FRA) was 8th at the halfway mark. The battle for the podium positions continued in the leading group: Jenic dropped to 4th in favor of Dodds and Siksnelis. De Haan took advantage of Justin Arseneau’s (CAN) incident to take Jenic’s 4th position. The fight then intensified for 4th place.
Ho crossed the finish line to take a big win, no less than 6 seconds ahead of Siksnelis who won the Trophy. Dodds completed the top three. David Zachary (PHL) eventually took 4th position and Vayron was 5th in front of De Haan and Coertze.
Sikenelis won the 2019 Academy Trophy ahead of Ho, De Haan was 3rd, Ferrari 4th and Coertze 5th.
