A series of minor incidents prevented Dorian Boccolacci from winning the WSK Euro Series at La Conca. His kart, an Energy/TM, was perfect, the driver was great as usual, and together they maintained the lead in the final for more than half the race, but the difficult path to get there changed the odds in favour of his competitors at the last turn: Dorian took the third step of the podium instead of the top step, which is the one he always aims to.
In a victory every detail matters and though no mistake was made during the weekend, things did not go at best after timed qualifying. It all began in the qualifying heats with a start position systematically on the outside, which is a certain disadvantage at Muro Lecesse. Then there was the fact that Dorian’s group had to compete in 3 races with tyres more worn than those of the other groups. To conclude, there was a 360° spin at the start of the final – this time too on an outside trajectory – which did not improve things at all.
The driver from Equipe de France FFSA Karting always managed to brilliantly regain a good position, but to do that he had to push his kart to the limit and his tyres undoubtedly suffered. He surprised all the observers with a great performance by quickly climbing up to third at the start of the final. And he was even more stunning when he took the lead. But he could not keep his advantage up to the end of the 20 laps, despite all his talent. He tried to resist as best as he could on the last turn, but Barnicoat’s bold attack could have caused an incident, so he decided to intelligently manage the few meters left before the finish line.
Dorian was capable of entering the race for victory even when not everything was perfect, thus confirming to be one of the protagonists of the 2013 KF season.
