The wind returned to Valencia for the Super Heat A of the FIA Karting European Championship – OK on Sunday morning. Strangely enough, poleman Gabriel Gomez (CRG/Iame) let Nathan Tye (Sodi/TM) run away with the lead in the first two formation laps without giving him the opportunity to come back to 2nd position. The race finally started, but a massive collision between eight karts led to a red flag. Everyone was able to repair and start again a few minutes later. Tye was under investigation for his two formation laps in front of the poleman. The ups and downs of this Super Heat were not over. Lucas Fluxa Cross (KR/Iame) broke down in the pit lane and caused a traffic jam behind him. The red flag was waved again. Matheus Morgatto (Birel ART/TM) started from the pit lane to join the formation lap. Tereza Babickova (Tony Kart/Vortex) retired before the start. The race was finally underway. Gomez was leading ahead of Alex Powell (KR/Iame), Anatoly Khavalkin (Parolin/TM), Arthur Poulain (Tony Kart/Vortex). Tye dropped to 7th behind Jan Przyrowski (Tony Kart/Vortex) and Maciej Gladysz (LN/Vortex). Poulain moved up to 3rd and set the fastest time. Malo Bolliet (KR/Iame) was 12th, Jimmy Hélias (Tony Kart/Vortex) was 15th after a good start, Jules Caranta (Energy/TM) 17th and Andrea Dupé (Sodi/TM) 30th. In the lead, Gomez and Powell were separated by 6 tenths, with Poulain in 3rd place, under threat from Przyrowski who was very fast behind him. After half of the race, Gomez had increased the gap to Powell under the pressure of the very fast Przyrowski. The Pole took 2nd place on the 11th of the 13 laps and made a move on the leader. Gomez narrowly saved his victory from Przyrowski, 54 thousandths behind on the line. Powell secured 3rd place against James Egozi (Tony Kart/Vortex). Poulain finished 5th ahead of Khavalkin, Gladysz and Enzo Tarnvanichkul (KR/Iame). Bolliet finished 13th, Hélias 16th, Caranta 20th and Dupé 30th. Tye received a 10″ penalty, Morgatto was disqualified for bad behaviour.
