It was 5° in the sun in Lonato for the KZ2 Prefinals of the first round of the WSK Super Master Series. Francesco Celenta (Parolin/TM) and Corentin Rousseau (Sodi/TM) were absent due to injuries on Saturday.
Paavo Tonteri (CRG/TM) and Jérémy Iglesias (CRG/TM) took the lead over David Trefilov (Maranello/TM) at the start of Prefinal A. Moritz Ebner (Birel ART/TM) was ahead of Stan Pex (KR/TM). The top five had quickly distanced themselves from their pursuers and were engaged in a close battle. Iglesias took the lead on the sixth lap over his team-mate Tonteri. Trefilov was very fast and moved up to 2nd place, catching up with the leader before attacking him on lap 8. Pex had moved up to 4th ahead of Viktor Gustafsson (CRG/TM). Pex attacked Tonteri for 3rd place, but then lost out to Gustafsson. Trefilov set the fastest lap and won the race a second ahead of Iglesias, with Tonteri 3rd, Gustafsson 4th and Pex 5th. Ebner finished 6th, followed by Alessio Piccini (Birel ART/TM) who moved up eight places. Paul Loussier (Sodi/TM) had lost 10 places to 22nd.
Giuseppe Palomba (Birel ART/TM) had a very good start and was 2nd behind Senna van Walstijn (Sodi/TM), while Arthur Carbonnel (Sodi/TM) was 3rd ahead of Tom Leuillet (Birel ART/TM). Emilien Denner (Sodi/TM) had recovered five places and entered the top 10. Pedro Hiltbrand (Birel ART/TM) quickly moved up to 5th, but 1.8″ behind. Leuillet set the fastest times and took over 3rd position from Carbonnel. At half distance, van Walstijn had a lead of 9 tenths over Palomba with Leuillet and Carbonnel very close and Hiltbrand 1,1″ back. Denner had moved up to 8th place and continued to move up in the classification. Leuillet attacked Palomba for 2nd position and Hiltbrand jumped to 3rd. Van Walstijn won a second ahead of Luillet, Hiltbrand finished 3rd (+4 pl), Carbonnel 4th and Palomba 5th. Denner had taken nine places back to 6th place. Adrien Renaudin (Tony Kart/Vortex) remained 10th. Celian Gallasin (CRG/TM) had regained 10 places in 18th position, Thomas Imbourg (Sodi/TM) had lost 11 places in 20th. Mattéo Spirgel (Sodi/TM) and Damien Vallar (Sodi/TM) were among the retirements.
