The Rotax/Sodi electric karts opened the Qualifying sessions of the Rotax Max Challenge Grand Finals in Portimao on a relatively dry track after the previous rainy periods. Senior and Junior were racing together.
Jesper Sjoeberg (SWE) was the fastest E20 Senior qualifier in Portimao with a time of 59’810 followed by Raul Vargas (ESP) by a tenth. Griffin Dowler (CAN) was 3rd, nearly three tenths off the pace, followed by Mathias Njeim (LBN) and Luca Koester (GER). Eric Le Moine (FRA) finished in 7th place.
In the E20 Junior class, Joel Bergstroem (SWE) was the fastest with 1’02”51 against Michal Soltys (SVK) and Tomasz Ibsen (POL). Christopher Holst (CHE) and Tijs Daems (BEL) completed the top five.
