There were big surprises in the KF prefinal, while the Essay track was still very wet. Most importantly Nicklas Nielsen (Kosmic / Vortex) spun when Tom Joyner (Zanardi / Parilla) tried to sneak inside at the first corner and then Callum Ilott (Zanardi / Parilla) went off at Turn 3 and gave up. Karol Basz (Tony Kart / Vortex) took the lead of the race from the first lap, followed by Joyner, Lando Norris (FA Kart / Vortex), Felice Tiene (CRG / Parilla) 4th, Nikita Mazepin (Tony Kart / Vortex) 5th, and Niko Kari (Tony Kart / Vortex) 6th. Gabriel Aubry (Tony Kart / Vortex) was steadily losing ground. Nielsen moved up to 25th.
Joyner took over control on the fifth lap and Norris took 2nd from Basz. Joyner was the fastest on the track and escaped irretrievably by almost 2′ from Norris before the halfway point. Few changes would then occur, as the top three really were above the rest in terms of performance. Joyner won by 4.7 seconds ahead of Norris, closely followed by Basz. Mazepin finished 4th, Daruvala 5th, Puhakka 6th, Kari 7th, and Tujula 8th.
Tiene and Aubry were not very comfortable in the wet. The Italian was ranked 14th and the French ended his ordeal in 23rd position. Nielsen was in 19th place in the end, but what a disappointment …
