PCR is delighted to announce that it has renewed its contract with the Swiss driver Alex Fontana for the 2008 season with the option of a further renewal for 2009.
The young driver (15 years old) drove his P.C.R. kart to the 2007 Swiss Championship title in the KF3 category and repeatedly caught the eye in international events during the course of the season.
In 2008 Fontana will be employed as a P.C.R. works driver in the KF2 category of the International Open Masters championship and the principal international classics, as well as in the Swiss Championship and the 2008 Bridgestone Cup. He may also compete in a number of rounds of the Spanish Championship.
Gigi Cavaciuti: “After an excellent 2007 season culminating in the conquest of the Swiss title we are all very happy to able to continue working with Alex. As well as his undeniable pace and the results obtained, he is an ideal representative of the P.C.R. marque and philosophy on the track.
Alex’s youth and temperament, including his great determination and the ease with which he adapts to new equipment and different circuits, mean we can be look forward to the 2008 season with optimism and the promise of great things for the years to come.”
Alex Fontana: “In 2007 we all worked hard and achieved excellent results, constantly developing and fine-tuning the new Windfire KF3 engine. We’ll now be trying to do the same with the KF2 engine that’s already impressed me on the track and is well suited to my driving style.
Since I’ve been at P.C.R. I’ve had the wonderful sensation of having the full team on my side: from the owners of the company to the mechanics, from the engine guys through to the secretaries and the all-important man who welds the chassis.
They always all give their passionate full support. We’ll now all be trying to live up to the flattering nickname “yellow arrow” we earned last season and to take the P.C.R. marque as high as possible in the KF2 category, into the leading positions it deserves.”
In 2008 Alex Fontana will be assisted by the Italo-Peruvian mechanic Giuseppe Morcia, a P.C.R. employee for the past 17 years who has previously worked among others with the Italians Giancarlo Fisichella and Andrea Bellicchi, the Finns Tony Vilander and Simo Puhakka and, more recently, Manuel Renaudie and Armand Convers of France.
