Great victory in KZ2 with Marco Ardigo at the WSK in Mariemboourg. The union Tony Kart – Vortex proved to be invincible winning all the series, the pre-final and the final.
In Mariembourg, in this race of the WSK Series, the Tony Kart Racing Team won the second round of KZ2 with Marco Ardigò. After the great result reached in the first race of KZ2 at the Winning Series Karting, on the French track in Angerville, the team gained a well-deserved success also in Belgium .
They are still keeping the leadership in the drivers rating, with Ardigò in first position, while the Tony Kart Racing Team is leading the Euro Cup, the team ratings.
They gained another success, after only a week from the victory in the French Championship in Varennes, the great technical and sporting performance started in the qualifying, with the best lap gained on the wet track.
Ardigò and the team worked hard in order to set up all the changes brought to chassis and the engines, thanks to our partner, Vortex.
The result of this great work was the perfect performance that our material had, with every kind of condition, both on the wet track (on Friday and on Saturday) and on the dry asphalt in the final on Sunday.
In KF1 the English drivers experienced a difficult moment during the qualifying and they were forced to fight in the heats in order to recover positions in the ratings. Matias Laine, entered in the super pole and started from the first lines, but then he was penalized after having had a too exuberant behaviour fighting a duel.
In KF2- In the pre-final the first line was monopolized by the colours of Tony Kart, Petri Suvanto and Flavio Camponeschi won respectively three and two heats. The race of the Finnish driver ended after a few hundred meters, after an unlucky start, Suvanto was involved in a contact.
Flavio Camponeschi, Tony Kart Junior Team representative, won the pre-final driving a perfect kart. In the final Camponeschi arrived third and Oliver Rowland gained other important points which allow him to keep on fighting for the WSK title.
The Tony Kart Racing Team is still leading the team rating, the Euro Cup, in second position there is the Birel Motorsport s.r.l, with 25 lengths of difference.
COMMENTS POST-RACE
Giacomo Aliprandi Team Manager Tony Kart Racing Team
“We worked together with Vortex, as always, bringing on the track new solutions which gave us positive results. We are on the right way but we will work hard in the next months in order to reach the perfect technical conditions for the KZ World Cup.”
Marco Ardigò – Tony Kart Racing Team driver, KF1
“Great week-end! During the tests it was raining and during the qualifying heats the asphalt was wet.
We continued what we had started in Varennes a week ago.
We gained a great victory in the French Championship, and it was raining.
Here in Mariembourg we did the qualifying on the wet asphalt and later, when we starter the heats on the dry track, we were ready and so we won all the rounds.
The pre-final went as I wanted, while in final we know what happened, with the disqualification….
This result arrived in the right moment, it is important to gain points, there are two races to the end of the Championship. I won the race after a strong fight with Thonon, a fight started last year.”
Our Team, chassis and engines were regular, perfect and this honour Vortex, which has always worked honestly.”
Matias Laine- Tony Kart Racing Team driver, KF1
“Unfortunately, in the final I had a contact in the paddock bend and I lost positions so I had to continue the race trying to recover positions. Of course this race has been extremely useful for us in sight of the European Championship. It has been a great occasion to do some tests and training.
We found excellent solutions especially for the rain, on the contrary for the dry asphalt we already had great solutions. However we hope to find good weather at the European Championship.”
Oliver Rowland – Tony Kart Racing Team driver, KF2
“The qualifying went well, I did a good start, maybe it was not so good as I expected but all together it was good. I made progresses during all the heats and we improved our performances. In the first final I started in 14th position and I did an excellent start, at the first bend I recovered many positions and I was 4th.
At the end the tyres were a little bit used up so I lost positions ending the race in 8th position. In the final, after the first bend, I was 5th but later I lost positions and I arrived 8th.
It was a very hard week-end, we always made progresses, we never stopped and in the end I gained some important points for the Championship, it is not bad. In Sarno we will have to be very fast, it is still possible to win the Championship, but I’ll have to drive well in order to gain points in both final.”
