After the first round of the 2008 European Championship at Angerville in May, the French drivers crossed the border to return to Mariembourg on the 27th & 28th of June. The results are quite encouraging in the three categories.
KZ2 is for now dominated by two French drivers, Joffrey Demanse (PCR/TM) and Tony Lavanant (Energy/TM) separated b only four points. Mathias Gallepe (Energy/TM), recent winner of the Coupe de France Long Circuit at Carole, is in seventh place in the European Championship standings. Emilien Grosso (Intrepid/Pavesi) ranks 11th and Enzo Zefirini (Birel/TM) 12th.
Of the 22 French drivers in KZ2, some had their share of bad luck at Angerville. Above all was Paul Louveau (Tonykart/Vortex) who performed very well in the heats before disappearing in Race 1. Zefirini, fast and impetuous, should be in a much better place than 12th at the end of the weekend.
Cedric Goudant (Tonykart/TM) and Pierre Etienne Chaumat (Alpha/TM) have the potential to be good as evidenced by their 17th and 18th places in the finals at Angerville. Benjamin Da Silva (Sodikart/TM) and the surprising Tristan Papavoine (Alpha/TM) were among the finalists, which is already good for them, and Morgan Weber (Birel/TM) is sure to score in Belgium.
Although he didn’t qualify in Angerville, Pierre Krypciak calmed down and is on a level with Thierry Lolmede, Benjamin Sionville or Stephane Stemper.
For the European Championship, they be wary of the very fast Jack Hawksworth (GB, Gillard/TM), penalised at Angerville in the Prefinal and currently third in the rankings. Kevin Jansen (NL, Energy/TM), Emmanuele Neri (IT, CKR/Pavesi) and Patrik Hajek (CZ, Birel/TM) are among the serious contenders for the podium.
