The atmosphere was more relaxed on the starting grid for the KZ2 Prefinal, where the experienced drivers enjoy exciting grids at Sarno… However, the photographers do not seem any less motivated. Alessandro Manetti and Jonathan Thonon make up the 100% CRG front row.
The drivers detach their tyres which are stuck to the tarmac and the are off. Marco Ardigo snuck into third place behind Thonon and Manetti. Puhakka followed then Kozlinski and Forè. Thomas Mich, starting 19th, lost three places. Forè threatened Kozlinski and passed under braking on the long straight on lap two. Piccini was 14th, Cesetti 16th. Ardigo passed Thonon for 2nd place.
Benjamin Bailly moved into the top 20, Laudato into 21st. Piccini forced his way into 11th position before halfway. Manetti was widening the gap on Ardigo while Mich was back up to 14th. Thonon was only two tenths away from Ardigo and Forè only little more behind. Sixth was Giulietti in front of Carlton and Dreezen. On the ninth lap Giulietti lost three places. Sixth on the track, Renaudie was only 22nd on the timing screens following a penalty of 10” for a jumped start.
The situation appeared stable at the front of the race two laps from the end. An incontestable victory for Alessandro Manetti in front of Marco Ardigo, Jonathan Thonon, Davide Forè and Arnaud Kozlinski. Piccini was eighth, Cesetti 12th, Mich 14th, Bailly 16th and Laudato 19th.
