Davide Forè and Arnaud Kozlinski have taken the front row for Race 1 in KF1. This race could well be decisive for the European title. Will the anticipated duel between Marco Ardigo (51 points) and Arnaud
Kozlinski (44 points) take place? All karts have had their clutch checked before being allowed on to the dummy grid.
Forè did not make a very good start and Kozlinski moved to head Ardigo in second, but soon after Forè and Guignet were able to pass. A clash in the middle of the pack caused yellow flags and slow signs. De Brabander, Laine, Nieminen, Ryall, Alfano, Te Braak remained by the side of the track. During these slow laps, Ardigo made clear his
dissatisfaction with Forè.
The race was restarted on lap 3 and the positions stayed the same.
Kozlinski gained a little. Ardigo and Guignet swapped places going into turn 4. Toman lost 5th place to Cesetti who was ahead of Catt and Stevens. Forè gained on Kozlinski and they pulled out a small gap
ahead of their two pursuers.
On the 9th lap, Guignet and Ardigo passed and repassed. Ardigo didn’t want to give up and Guignet went off onto the grass with Ardigo. It was the most important moment of the race, and perhaps of the
championship. Giacomello, on his Zanardi on Dunlop tyres, was very fast and now went into 3rd place, after starting from 11th on the grid.
Ardigo started to come back, easily passing Stevens and closing on Catt, the current leader of the championship. It took 3 laps to get close enough. Ardigo could finally pass on the 17th lap.Cesetti took 4th position with Ardigo, Catt and Stevens staggered behind him, followed by Bressan, Kunranta, Toman, Truelove, Lichtfield, Varutti … At the end of race Giacomello gradually gaine on Forè, but the position didn’t change.
An important victory went to Arnaud Kozlinski ahead of Forè, Giacomello, Cesetti, Ardigo and Catt. In the championship Kozlinski took the lead with 69 points, second was Catt with 65 points and 3rd
was Ardigo with 62 points. The suspense is intense!
