Tony Lavanant did not have to wait for the end of the Varennes meeting to collect enough points to take the European title in KZ2. With second place in the race 1, he has put himself beyond the reach of his pursuers. Neither his teammates Gallepe and Jansen, nor Hanssen, can now contest the championship.
Kevin Jansen won the race ahead of Lavanant who managed to contain the comeback of British driver Jack Hawksworth up until the finish line. Behind the leading trio, the race was hotly contested, sometimes a little too much so. Cédric Goudant lost all his chances to avoid Hanssen after falling at the first corner. Enzo Zéfirini fought for a long time with Simon Solgat, while Stéphane Stemper was not far off, between 4th and 6th. Mathias Gallepe was running in around 8th place.
On the last lap, Solgat came back to Zéfirini who was doing well by pushing Hajek at the next corner. Zéfirini hit Stemper unintentionally which pushed him into a spin so the two French lost out favor of Hajek.
