The weather was overcast when timed practice began at the World Championship at La Conca. The morning weather had been beautiful… However, if it rains the track will retain the water, as it did last Sunday when the paddock was flooded.
In either KZ1 or KF1, Marco Ardigò confirms that he is fastest by posting the fastest lap with 46”285 in his first and only timed session. Arnaud Kozlinski was faster in the second session though, perhaps relying on rubber deposited on the track, and was up two tenths to 7th position. Jack Te Braak was second with his new Maxter engine, and held off most of the Vortex fleet – four in the top five with Stevens in 3rd, Catt 4th and Bollingtoft 5th.
Yannick De Brabander was the first TM in 6th position ahead of Koko, Davide Fore, Armand Convers and Bressan. Thonon, Manetti and Guignet were 13th, 14th and 15th places, before Renaudie, the first Parilla. Varutti was 21st, Alfano 23rd, Abbasse 34th (after an engine breakage), Cesetti 37th, Cuoco 42nd, Lammers 43rd, Gazzurelli 45th and Nanot 47th.
In technical terms, the official Vortexes seem particularly fast, but the Maxters should be able to rise to the occasion. The TMs are not far off, although slightly slower. To find the first Parilla you would have to go down to 16th place and Manuel Renaudie.
