In bright sunshine, crowded stands, grid girls and red umbrellas, everything is in place for the main events, with the Prefinal for World Championship ready to start.
Nikolaj Bollingtoft made a very cautious start, was displaced by Will Stevens, assisted by Marco Ardigò, and lost the advantage of his pole position. Arnaud Kozlinski benefited from the other side, making a perfect start. The CRG driver immediately pulled out twenty meters on his opponents, the Tony Kart trio of Stevens, Ardigò and Catt. Bollingtoft was 5th at the end of the first lap. Manuel Renaudie followed, then Davide Fore, Mark Litchfield, Armand Convers and Jason Parrott. Alban Varutti lost a lot of time and places at the second corner.
Davide Fore was on the offensive and repassed Renaudie, then returned to challenge Bollingtoft and Catt. Ardigo made an attack on Stevens and was second. Fore continued to work on Bollingtoft. The pair attacked Stevens, who was less secure. On his own, Kozlinski took off, giving the impression that they did not challenge his talent or his machine. The battle continued between Fore, Stevens and Bollingtoft.
Parrott on the Birel passed Toman cleanly and closed on Convers, while Litchfield gave up several places. Bollingtoft was taken by Fore and Stevens had the opportunity slip by too. Parrott defeated Convers fairly easily. It was now near halfway. Kozlinski led from Ardigò, Catt, Stevens, Bollingtoft, Fore, Parrott and Convers. Renaudie was 10th, ahead of Laine, Gaggianesi, Abbasse and Litchfield. Fore retook the 5th position from Bollingtoft.
On lap 10, Catt managed to overtake his team-mate Ardigò for second place, although it seemed less of a fight. He then continued the attack on Stevens. Parrott continued his challenge and passed Bollingtoft, followed immediately by Renaudie. On the last lap, Stevens was passed by Ardigò on the line.
