It was cool and windy on the plateau of Zuera for the start of the WSK timed practice. The KF3 went first, the juniors are the best represented for the climax of the season. The second of the two groups is slightly faster than the first, and the times will get faster for the latter.
In the first group, the leadership was fought over by Gerard Barrabeig, Ignazio D’Agosto and Nyck De Vries. The latter finally put his opponents in their place with a time of 1’03”812, achieved on the last lap. In second, Barrabeig was 8 hundredths off, from D’Agosto, David Da Luz and Aaro Vainio.
The fight took place in the second session between Sergei Sirotkin, Vittorio Ghirelli and Carlos Sainz. The Spanish FA Kart finished ahead with 1’03”683 in front of the Russian Sirotkin and Italian Ghirelli.
Overall, Sainz was fastest in qualifying, but De Vries was very much on the pace. The Japanese driver Kanamuru Yu took a good 8th place. By far the first girl in the category, Beitske Visser was 11th. A good performance for the French driver Victor Sendin, 35th fastest in his 1st competition in KF3.
