Libor Toman won the single 35 km final that crowned the 2008 WSK championship. The young Birel driver raced with Arnaud Kozlinski, but took over command of the race with a rather robust move on the last lap. The CRG driver did not appreciate it.
Toman started in the lead, but the Tony Kart drivers were not far away. Gary Catt occupied second place and 3rd went to Kozlinski before he moved into second. Bressan fought with Cooper and took the advantage. Libor had time to pull out a good gap. Bressan was now 3rd to Stevens and Catt and there were five leaders of the race.
Koko joined Toman, but did not fight him, preferring to hold off three Vortexes who came closer. Their positions were not set in stone as Stevens, Catt and Bressan were constantly changing positions, making for a better show. The unusually long length of the race did not seem to influence the drivers. The fighting also raged in the second group between Alabart, Cooper, Giacomello and De Brabander.
Toman and Kozlinski pulled away from the infernal trio that followed them. De Brabander and Giacomello crashed and lost a lot of places. Kozlinski overtook Toman on the 9th lap of a race which has 21. The Birel driver returned to lead the next lap. Bressan began to dominate Catt and Stevens. Another battle was being prepared between Alfano, Truelove, Parrott and Kuipers.
One wondered how long the impasse would last between Toman and Kozilinski. It was not until the last lap that Kozlinski positioned himself for an attack on the Czech driver. He headed Koko across the finish line with a one-hundredth lead. Bressan took the 3rd step of the podium. Gianni Gazzurelli finished 10th in this exciting race.
