It is still valid to say Italy is in force after a long day on Saturday at La Conca for KZ2. No fewer than 12 qualifying heats took place in excellent weather at Muro Leccese. With about 15 drivers among the informal top 20 ranking on Saturday evening, the Italians dominate the category. Angelo Lombardo (Tony Kart / Vortex), Leonardo Fuoco (CRG / TM), Riccardo Piccoli (CKR / TM), Luca Tilloca (CRG / Maxter), the protégé of Arnaud Kozlinski, have been among the best performers of the day along with the Czech Patrik Hajek (Tony Kart / Vortex).
However, we should not forget the Briton Jack Hawksworth (Energy / TM), the Polish Daniel Fuchs (Birel / TM), or Tommaso Cerquetti (DR Racing / Maxter), David De Luchi (Intrepid / TM) or Lazzaro Ferri (Tony Kart / TM).
The French are clearly not doing well this weekend. Our best performer is undoubtedly Clément Da Silva (Birel / TM) who is expected to qualify the final stages. William Benedetti (CRG / TM) is not badly placed either, thanks to learning the intricacies of the 125cc gearbox quickly. Christophe Benoit, Cédric Goudant and Stéphane Lefebvre can still hope, but it is probably too late for for Eric Ramon, Tristan Papavoine, Emilien Grosso, Aurélien Siniscalchi and Anthony Garbarino.
Each driver has a heat to go on Sunday morning before the hammer falls. The weather will have it’s say in the scenario for the finals since the slicks have suffered on Saturday in almost summer temperatures, but there could be intermittent rain during the day …
