The win seemed to be promised to Anthony Abbasse and then to Thomas Mich, but it was Pierre Ragues who finally carried it off after an eventful race marked by the vagaries of technology.
In the early stages, Stéphane Lefebvre (Tony Kart / TM) made the best start and enjoyed a clear lead on the 1st lap. Anthony Abbasse (Sodi / TM) waited until the 2nd lap to move into 1st. Thomas Mich (Birel / TM) also attacked Lefebvre on the next lap, but the amazing Pierre Ragues (Sodi / TM) took them both at once. For 5th, Norman Nato (Intrepid / TM) fought against Eric Ramon (Sodi / TM). Then there was a clash in the pack that delayed Ramon and sent Nato of track with his tyres dirty from the dust.
Abbasse was steadily increasing his advantage, while Mich threatened Ragues, but in vain. Nato still failed to take the advantage from Lefebvre. But in mid-race, the first dramatic event was when Abbasse stopped, apparently with a mechanical problem. This seemed to boost Mich who found hidden resources to dispose of Ragues. Mathias Gallepe (Sodi / Maxter) drove effectively since the start of the race and was now in 5th.
With 2 laps until the end there was a second dramatic turn of events: Mich went off the track, with his water hoses pierced and Nato finally managed to pass Lefebvre. The laurels went to Pierre Ragues on a Sodi ahead of Norman Nato, who had a good race, and Stephane Lefebvre was delighted to get on the podium of the GPO. Gallepe finished 4th ahead of Paul David and Christopher Benoit.
