Italy’s Yuri Lucati (BRM / TM) leads after the qualifying heats for KZ2 at Varennes, ahead of the French driver Yan Pesce (Energy / TM), but he cannot really be considered a contender for the European title with his zero score so far. Beitske Visser (Intrepid / TM) is back in third position ahead of Daniel Fuchs (Birel / TM) and Luca Tilloca (CRG / Maxter).
Paolo De Conto (Energy / TM), a leader of the championship, is on row 8, which leaves him still a good chance for the title, but he must bring his best game this afternoon to address the performance of Pesce and Visser. Although ranked at the bottom of the table for the title, Mathieu Gaillard (Energy / Maxter) in 10th could play spoiler in the race, along with Cedric Goudant (Tony Kart / TM) and Emilien Grosso (Intrepid / TM).
