Briton Edward Brand was the only driver to win both races, so logically he is leader after the heats. The Ouellette brothers of Canada have each won a heat, Pier-Luc starting from row 4. He has moved up 7th overall, while his brother has fallen to 16th after a DNF.
The other two heats were won by the American Daniel Formal and New Zealander Joshua Hart, 2nd and 3rd respectively in the intermediate. There was a nice progression for the South African Caleb Williams, the winner in 2009, from 15th to 5th place behind Austrian Ferenc Kancsar.
The French driver Alexander Benoit Bessac has managed to perfectly transform his position from 22nd to 9th position on the starting grid for the pre-final. His compatriot Anthony Barthon deserved better than 17th place, but lost valuable positions by retiring once.
