Just like the weather in Vegas in this late November weekend, Andrick Zeen’s performances at the XIV Supernationals wavered between excellent and perturbed. There was a mood of excitement in the G-Phactory throughout the weekend, animated by a healthy rivalry between American and French drivers. Thanks to the experience achieved during a very busy European season, Andrick started his KF2 weekend with high hopes.
But things took a while to get on the right footing, owing to a container of next-generation Sodi chassis stopped at Los Angeles customs. Due to the lower-performance karts used, timed qualifying sessions where not entirely satisfactory for Andrick, who ended 22nd. Andrick had a smile back on his face during the first qualifying heat, when he made a great start and climbed up to 6th. Unfortunately, he suffered a cooling problem and retired the following heat, then was sent off track on the first lap of the third heat. But his spirits remained high, just like the potential of his Sodi/Parilla.
When the time of the final race came, the sun finally appeared on the hotel Rio track and Andrick joined the battle determined to take his revenge. 22nd at the start, he continued to gain ground despite intense fight in an overexcited pack. After going as high as 8th place, he had to face a loss of grip due to his tyre pressure being too high and was 9th at the end of the 25 laps.
“I am both disappointed and happy” Andrick said on arrival. “I fought really hard, I was very fast and felt great, but I had too many problems to be able to fight for the leading places. My season in France in the Sodi Racing Team has been very useful for me, no doubt about it. I have had a very positive experience and what is more my French is getting pretty good!”
