A hard-fought meeting with many determined drivers and a few mishaps during the race, a track that passed from dry to wet and caused several problems, the fact that the Sarno circuit is particularly fast and a KF1 category still wavering: this was the explosive mix that CRG Racing Team had to face at the first meeting of the WSK Euro Series 2011. But despite all this, some good results came in.
Jonathan Thonon placed a dominant stamp on KZ1 on Saturday and concluded by winning Final 1. He was well on his way to repeating his successful performances the following day, but the last race did not go as expected. It was then Davide Forè who took charge of the situation and made it to the podium. Arnaud Kozlinski highlighted all the progress made by the factory Maxter kart by battling for victory.
Max Verstappen repeated the excellent performances he had shown on season debut against the elite of KF3, with a superb recovery in the pre-final and a second place after a wet weather final, despite a small mistake that, however, does not affect his talent or the performance of his kart.
With a late season debut in Sarno, Michelle Gatting had the time to prove her talent in KF2, in particular with a nice third place during a qualifying heat, despite her lack of racing practice so far.
KF1 drivers have made remarkable progress in the discovery of this new version of the category. Felice Tiene was 8th in Saturday’s final, while Mathias Köykkä and Jordon Lennox-Lamb concluded in 7th and 8th place on Sunday. Weighed down by a series of different problems during the weekend, Laura Tillett managed to show up among the fastest anyway.
