The race was under high tension in KF3. 3rd in the prefinal after letting Paolo Besancenez (Sodi / Parilla) past on the line, Ocon Esteban (FA Kart / Vortex) was downgraded for “dangerous driving” and started on the back row … Besancenez got away without problems but Benjamin Gerard (Tony Kart / Vortex) took the lead on the 2nd lap. Hubert Petit (Sodi / Parilla) in 3rd was attacked by Simon Tirman (Tony Kart / Vortex) and the two drivers lost out in a collision, seriously affecting several drivers. Ocon was already 10th on the third lap, he was the fastest on the track.
It was very close between the top 3, Gerard, Besancenez and Dorian Boccolacci (Birel / BMB). Boccolacci moved into second position to the detriment of Besancenez, then on the 7th lap took the lead, surpassing Gerard. In 4th, Etienne Mordred (Zanardi / Parilla) returned to Besancenez, with Florian Latorre (Sodi / Parilla) watching at a distance ahead of Pilou Loubet (Sodi / Parilla) and Valentin Moineault (Sodi / Parilla) in 7th.
It remained tight between the drivers at the front. Mordred went 3rd and then second to Gerard. Ocon was now up to 8th. Mathieu Di Giacomo, while in ninth was a 7” off it, following the clashes that marred the start of the race. Boccolacci had a big lead, and Gerard had to manage the threat from Mordret. Moineault ran 5th in the wake of Besancenez. Ocon set several fastest laps in his fantastic recovery, he was 7th with 5 laps to go. Mordret finally attacked Gerard with two laps remaining. The group of 4 behind the leader was explosive. Ocon took Besancenez going into braking at the cafeteria.
Boccolacci got his second win of the weekend by setting, like on Saturday, the absolute fastest lap of the race, with more than 2” ahead of the excellent Mordret, while Gerard confirmed the 3rd step of the podium. Moineault 4th, 5th Ocon and Besancenez 6th, Latorre 7th.
