Started at Magny-Cours in France, the CIK-FIA European Championship will see its second round held on the Autodrom circuit of Most, in the Czech Republic, on 10, 11 and 12 June 2011.
Leader of the provisional classification of the Championship, France’s young contender Emmanuel Vinualès (Anderson-DEA) is determined to reinforce his position at the front but will no longer have the advantage of racing in front of his public and will even have to get to grips rapidly with the racing lines of the Czech course because he has never set a wheel on this track. As for his two most direct rivals, the German Daniel Hentschel (Anderson-DEA) and the reigning European Champion Gavin Bennett (Anderson-DEA), they have already raced there and will try to use the asset of this experience to catch up with Vinualès in the Championship classification.
Having switched over from KZ, the Frenchman Laurent Marchandise (PVP-FPE) and the Dane Henrik Lilja (PVP-PVP) are taking a liking to Superkart competition and will get down to confirming or even improving on the excellent impression they made at Magny-Cours, which earned them their fourth and fifth places in the provisional classification.
Absent from Magny-Cours for reasons of convalescence further to an operation, the Northern Irishman Trevor Roberts (Anderson-BRC) could be another serious candidate for victory, taking into account that in 2009 he had prevailed in Race 2 on this circuit of Most. Additionally, Germany’s Peter Elkmann, who competes at the wheel of a Czech chassis, and the local Driver Adam Kout, whose chassis-engine unit (MS Kart-VM) is also Czech, will be very keen to shine “at home”.
Thirty-six Drivers are entered in the event, which has the distinctive feature of offering more track time to Superkarts than most other meetings.
