Esteban Ocon (FA Kart / Vortex) took 1st place straight away in the KF3 Prefinal in the GPO at Ostricourt as the lights went out. Dorian Boccolacci (Birel / BMB) took advantage of Simon Tirman (Tony Kart / Vortex) while Paolo Besancenez (Sodi / Parilla) got locked up outside. Francis Bécamel (CRG / Parilla) took 3rd position ahead of Benjamin Gerard (Tony Kart / Vortex) and Etienne Mordret (Zanardi / Parilla). Tirman dropped to 8th place.
Ocon was racing ahead now with a big lead on Boccolacci. Hubert Petit (Sodi / Parilla) sneaked into fourth position, but Mordret returned on the 4th lap in an agitated bunch. Mordret quickly captured 3rd place at the expense of Gerard, also passed by Petit. The Zanardi driver was waiting for Boccolacci to attack, but he regained his position against Petit. Mordret succeeded this time in his attack on the Birel under braking at the first hairpin, but it was clear that Dorian could not really keep up in terms of performance.
Ocon was insolent now with a lead of nearly 6 seconds. Back to 8th, Valentin Moineault (Sodi / Parilla) set the fastest lap on the 10th of 14 laps. From beyond 20th, Besancenez came back to 15th. Boccolacci was losing ground by being obliged to pass Gerard and Petit. Ocon was moving quietly toward victory.
