KF1 went on to the track for qualifying on Sunday morning when the weather started to get hot. Sébastien Bailly and Tereza Gromanova (Kosmic / Vortex) topped the table ahead of Alex Baron (Sodi / Parilla) and Felice Tiene (CRG / Maxter). Matteo Viganò (Birel / BMB) joined the leading trio, but Yu Kanamaru (Tony Kart / Vortex) finally posted 49”406 ahead of Gromanova, Bailly, Anthoine (Sodi / Parilla) and Vigano.
Unusually, Nyck De Vries (Zanardi / Parilla) took to the track as soon as the green flag, after seeing the times from the 1st group. Leo Roussel (Sodi / Parilla) and Ignazio D’Agosto (Tony Kart / Vortex) showed the first sign of really fast times, ahead of Karol Basz (RK / BMB) and Remy Deguffroy (Tony Kart / Vortex). Nyck then accelerated and went below 49” several times with the final fastest lap of 48”908. Respect. Basz and Roussel and ended with exactly the same time within 0.3” of the pole. D’Agosto finished 4th, Albon 5th, Deguffroy 6th and Camponeschi 7th.
Combining the two sessions, guess who takes pole? Sorry, there is no suspense here, it’s Nyck De Vries, ahead of Roussel and Basz, D’Agosto 4th, Albon 5th, Kanamaru 6th, Gromanova 7th, Deguffroy 8th … etc..
