South Africa’s Cristiano Morgado continued his effort in the heats after taking pole position. In Rotax DD2 Master, he drove perfectly, while the Swedish driver Martin Victorsson, French driver William Berteaux and Canadian Scott Campbell shared the other three qualifying heats. The latter is none other than the winner of the World Finals in 2010.
The battles were intense between the “older” drivers, with constant changes of position in the leading group throughout the six heats. Many drivers haven’t showed their potential. One thinks of the ex Formula Super A driver, Japan’s Takao Matsuya, French driver Guy Pansart, the Belgian Christophe Adams is getting stronger, the Dutchman Danny Brand, Denmark’s Peter Lundström or Britain’s Florent Lambert, a driver of French origin.
Victorsson had an accident in a heat and is only 15th. A little further behind, there is the French driver Franck Rouxel, up from 41st (after a bad qualifying session) to 23rd. A top position becomes a much more achievable goal …
