Felice Tiene and Fabian Federer brought CRG to the highest step of the podium in KF2 and KZ2 at the 23rd Margutti Trophy, held for the first time in its history on the circuit of South Garda Karting (Lonato).
The famous Italian classic was accompanied both by high public attendance and fierce competitiveness on its new site, Lonato, which is probably one of the busiest tracks in the world in terms of number of drivers and racing teams. Felice Tiene stood head and shoulders above anyone else in a KF2 class with 55 entrants by scoring the highest possible number of points from pole position through timed qualifying and to his final victory. The British driver Tom Joyner, also equipped with an excellent BMB engine prepared by KVS, led his LH chassis to a second place after a good recovery drive. Returning to competition after a long break, Eddy Tinini performed very well, as Luke Varley did.
At the Margutti Trophy Fabian Federer showed the form of his best days and kept the lead of KZ2 during the whole weekend, with a Maxter engine prepared in the workshop. 2nd in timed qualifying, he then won all the races and added his name to the prestigious roll of honour of the event. Coming very close to victory several times, Jordon Lennox-Lamb was slowed down by the traffic in the pre-final and then came again at the foot of the podium, sparing no effort in his battle.
In KF3, Alex Palou can be satisfied with his good job in the leading pack. The young Spaniard’s performances behind the wheel of his CRG/BMB are more and more encouraging. He claimed a podium at Lonato after keeping the lead for part of the final.
