Beitske Visser, who was looking forward to getting back on the track after a two-month break following her accident at Zandvoort, was finally behind a racing wheel on the circuit of Nürburgring, for the 4th round of the Adac Formel Masters, with her usual determination. Rain made things more complicated in Germany and Beitske will now have to wait until the next round of the Red Bull Ring in August to aim for the podium.
More than the rain itself, which the young Dutch driver from Lous Team is used to dealing with, it was its intermittence that disrupted the competition. 3rd in timed qualifying in the dry, she was given a 5-place penalty for passing on a yellow flag she had not seen. In the middle of heavy water spray in Race 1, she managed to regain the place she had lost at the start but had no chance to climb any higher, something that really upset her. At the start of Race 2 Beitske was on slicks on the outside part of the track where the surface was still wet, struggling to maintain her position, when she was bumped into and had to stage a recovery drive from the last to the 12th place by setting one of the fastest times. The driver and her team decided to make a daring bet in Race 3 by mounting slick tyres while rain was still threatening to fall. The scales did not tip in their favour and the rain forced Beitske to a difficult balancing act to maintain her 12th place, without being able to go any further.
