Though the final phases of the second round of the European KF2 Championship were not very favourable to Thiago Vivacqua, overall the English meeting showed that the young Brazilian driver is on the right track. Race after race, he is gaining confidence with his new class and his ability vs. other more experienced drivers is growing.
The new PF International circuit (Great Britain) is exciting but also very challenging, with a sequence of winding and fast parts, high-speed braking and kerbs that are necessary but dangerous for gearboxes. The British meeting started in the rain, but that did not bother Thiago, who set the 7th fastest time in his group during timed qualifying, behind the wheel of his Zanardi/Parilla. The 101% rule, which mixed up the performances in each series, was not favourable to him and he finished 26th overall. The qualifying heats were first held in the dry and then in the rain; everything went just fine, at least as long as Thiago was not bumped into, which happened twice. Otherwise, he was 6th, 7th and 8th, being fast, bold and reliable at the same time.
There was a bit of nervousness at the start of Race 1, Thiago lost a few meters but regained ground before he fell to the back of the pack after a collision. In spite of this, he climbed up a few positions to finish in 26th place. He moved up to 21st in Race 2, but he was pushed out of the track and eventually had to retire after trying in vain to make it to the finish line. Thiago is aware of his progress and is now looking forward to the next meeting to be held at Zuera (Spain), an important preparatory step before the World Cup in September.
