Max Verstappen (CRG / TM) struggled to get back to the inside the start of the final for the KF2 World Cup at Zuera, while Felice Tiene and Jordon Lennox-Lamb (CRG / BMB) got away well. We were watching a turning point in the race. Verstappen then quickly overtook Tom Joyner (LH / BMB) and went hunting Lennox-Lamb. Dennis Olsen (Energy / TM) went across the dust on the right bottom of the circuit and lost any chance to do well. There was a crash at the hairpin which delayed several drivers including Thiago Vivacqua (Zanardi / Parilla), and Valentin Moineault (Tony Kart / Vortex). A few laps later, Pedro Hiltbrand (FA Kart / Vortex) and Antonio Fuoco (Kosmic / Vortex) returned to the pits, their karts covered in dust after another clash which also demoted Carlos Gil (Tony Kart / Vortex) and Victor Compere ( Kosmic / Parilla) after a beautiful start to the race.
Verstappen joined Lennox-Lamb and passed on the sixth lap. We then had the impression that he would be able to get closer to Tiene, but he upped the pace and protected his leading position. Behind the leading quartet, both ART GP / Parilla drivers Ben Barnicoat and Charles Leclerc kept pace with Sam Snell (Energy / TM), but Flavio Camponeschi (Tony Kart / Vortex) was to join the battle for 5th place, before retiring due to a mechanical problem at the bottom of the circuit.
The suspense for 3rd place was enlivened with the return of Joyner on Lennox-Lamb. The LH driver managed to pass the CRG driver on the final lap, Lennox defended, then planned beautiful attack on the inside of the last corner to save his place on the podium 65 thousandths ahead of Joyner. Behind the battle intensified with Snell planning to take Leclerc in fifth, but lost time with an unsuccessful attack, leaving Barnicoat to also pass on the wire in 6th position.
The fastest in the final was Nicklas Nielsen (Kosmic / Vortex), in 9th, who we would like to have seen fighting at the front. Anthoine Hubert (Formula K / Parilla) finished first, and the only, French driver in 15th position. CRG tripled again in KF2, even adding the 4th position for Joyner on an LH from the Tinini Group.
