The weather cleared early in the afternoon at Laval. The wind was strong, but the sky clear, although the track was still damp in places.
The start of the Prefinal in KF3 was marked by some masterful lines at the first corner on the first right after the start. Alexander Guiod (Merlin / Parilla) was ahead of Nikita Mazepin (Zanardi / Parilla), Arthur Lehouck (Sodi / Parilla), François Becamel (Kosmic / Parilla), Matteo Raspatelli (Tony Kart / Parilla) and Gabriel Aubry (Birel / TM ). Callum Ilott (Zanardi / Parilla) was 12th, Paolo Besancenez (Sodi / Parilla) 14th, Julien Darras (Tony Kart / Parilla) 16th and Elpitiya and Landais retired.
Becamel and Raspatelli then took advantage of Mazepin while Guiod was more than one second ahead. But Becamel hustled and the leader lost from 1st position at halfway. Aubry was meanwhile back to third position and soon attacked Guiod to gain second place, imitated by Raspatelli for third. Fastest on the track, Aubry closed on Becamel and then attacked with two laps to go.
The twist at the start may well be the turning point of the KF3 Championship with Ilot 9th, Besancenez 10th, Darras 16th and Elpitiya 25th. The surprise winner, Aubry, scored a lot of points after an unexpectedly difficult qualifying. Second was Becamel who also played his cards well, then came Raspatelli, Guiod, Lehouck, Mazepin and Potty.
