It is rumored that KZ2 won’t appear at the Supernationals in 2013. The venue and timetable are starting to fail to accommodate all of the categories and KZ is not full, far from it. But the quality is there with some of the best specialists in the world. Of the 34 entries, only 12 are from North America and 17 are Europeans.
Anthony Abbasse (Sodi / TM) is defending his 2011 title against the likes of Bas Lammers (Praga / Parilla) and his teammates Patrik Hajek and Martin Doubek. Tony Kart has a beautiful line-up with no less than 10 karts, with Rick Dreezen and Marco Ardigo at the front, supported by Mirko Torsellini and Alessandro Piccini. For the Piccinis it is a family affair, as father and son, Alessio (Kosmic / Vortex) will compete for the first time in the same category. Good luck to Ms. Piccini … Armand Convers (Kosmic / Vortex), one of the fastest in the Tony Kart organisation, is here for the first time this year, as is his compatriot Gianni Gazzurelli, the only driver to drive an FA Kart. The Dutch drivers Max Verstappen and Jorrit Pex defend the colors of CRG with TM engines and strong ambitions. Finally Ben Hanley (ART GP) is the only British driver in the running, but probably just as motivated.
One of the best Americans in the race, Gary Carlton, has changed team this time for his return to competition after a one-year break, running on the unusual configuration of Energy / BMB. The Canadian Philip Orcic (Zanardi / Maxter) is also highly rated after his European campaign, while the winner of the 2002 event, Ron White, is driving a CRG / Maxter.
