The track was wet at Lyon for the Prefinal in X30 Senior. Choosing slicks didn’t yet seem to be an option, and rain could fall at the end of the race, according to Météo France. Anthony Cour (Alpha) and Vincent Fraisse (Sodi) would be on the front row for the battle. Fraïsse was able to take the right line in second place behind Cout who had a perfect start. Matias Milla (Zanardi) was ahead of Jeremy Lopes (Tony Kart), Mathias Borges Martins (FK). In contrast, Joseph Mawson (Kosmic) and Luca Midali (Sodi) were taken out in an incident at the first corner and was now missing. Kevin Breysse (PCR) was already fifth, followed by Bryan Laloux (Kosmic), Thomas Ricci (Tony Kart), Yoann Mazgarean (Exceed) and Jeoffrey Rouchy (CRG).
After four laps, Cout was 1.3” in the lead with the fastest lap, ahead of Fraïsse, who also had a gap to Milla and Lopes. We watched Breysse close on Lopes, while Hubert Petit (Sodi) set sparks flying in 7th place with a gain of 22 places compared to his start position. Fraïsse hustled, but failed to gain ground on Cout who was constantly improving the fastest lap.
Significant gaps froze some positions in the top 7 where Nicolas Gonzales (Kosmic) joined Petit, sixth behind Breysse. Ingrid Girard (Tony Kart) was unwavering in her recovery from the last row, currently in 20th after gaining 13 places. Petit was able to reach and pass Breysse for fifth position with two laps to go. Cout had a landslide victory, 3.8” ahead of Fraïsse. Milla was third, Lopes fourth, Petit fifth with 24 places gained, Breysse 6th, Gonzales 7th, the fastest on the track.
