The Briton Tom Joyner (Zanardi / TM) eventually won the KF World Championship in 2013 thanks to his excellent performance and victory in Bahrain, but also thanks to the lively racing that changed the game in the finals. Slower in the final, Max Verstappen (CRG / TM) tried to keep his position from Nicklas Nielsen (Kosmic / Vortex) in a misguided action that made him hit the Danish driver even as he lost any chance to take a second world title. The young Dutchman was also excluded for this. 3rd and 4th at PFI and Bahrain, Ben Hanley (ART GP / TM) scored the same number of points as Joyner and took 2nd place in the Championship ahead of Verstappen. Karol Basz (Tony Kart / Vortex), second in the final, is 4th ahead of Nielsen.
In KFJ, the situation is not final. For now, Alessio Lorandi (Tony Kart / Parilla) has totaled 40 points in the lead of the World Championship ahead of Leonardo Pulcini (Tony Kart / Vortex) on 38 points and Robert Shwartzman (Tony Kart / TM) on 32 points. This is after the 10” penalty imposed on the second-placed Nikita Mazepin (Tony Kart / Vortex) for exceeding the limits of the track which gave him an advantage, which amended positions to the detriment of Pulcini. But the Mazepin’s entrant has appealed to the court of the FIA, so the classification is not definitive.
