Firstly, the race director Gianni Clementi fell heavily avoiding a KFJ going off in the rain. This resulted in an emergency evacuation and a triple fracture to his leg. Next, the KFJ heat A against D was discontinued due to excessive rainfall. There was a delay after the downpour then KZ2 were forced to run their last heat B against E in the dusk. Beitske Visser was savagely into the barriers. Lighting up South Garda Karting could improve the situation, but the CIK regulations prohibit its use on most tracks, for competitions that are supposed to be in daylight. The light was finally deemed insufficient, the race was red-flagged, but should it have been started?
The consequences of these two interruptions race are evident in the intermediate rankings, as a strange decision was taken: to give half points to their participants. Although this choice makes sense in a championship, it is totally unfair when it comes to heat penalties, not points, giving the competitors in these two heats an unfair advantage …
Hopefully fairness can restored before the repechages and finals. One can always hope …
