19 laps were on the programme for the final of the first CIK-FIA Academy Trophy round of 2014, under the sun at Genk. The start was more agitated than usual with a few skirmishes at the first corner. Oliver York and Xavier Brunet Lloveras lost their chances there. Bradley Liebenberg led the first time round ahead of Kakunoshin Ota, Cao Zhuo and Berkay Besler, Lucas Légeret was in 5th position, followed by Murilo Della Coletta and Rinus Van Kalmthout. Ota took the lead on lap three, with Besler back to 3rd, and Liebenberg down in 6th. Ota pulled away ahead of Besler, Cao, Della Coletta and Van Kalmthout. There was a big rise for Marta Garcia Lopez who was in the top 10 after her 29th place on the grid.
Shortly before halfway Van Kalmthout grabbed 4th place from Della Coletta and Ross Martin passed Légeret to gain 6th position. The French driver Alexandre Vromant was 12th with a gain of 6 places. Richard Verschoor had gained 16 positions to 18th. Ota continued to widen the gap while Van Kalmthout closed on Besler. The attack took place on Van Kalmthout on lap 12, Besler then dropped to fifth position, as Martin went 3rd ahead of Cao. At the end of the race, Martin and Van Kalmthout upped the pace compared to the leader. But the Japanese responded by sensing the danger and scored a great victory. Van Kalmthout finished 2nd, Martin was 3rd with the fastest lap and a gain of 13 places, Besler 4th, Cao 5th, Minang 6th, Kogure 7th and Légeret 8th. Vromant got into the top 10.
