What does Benjamin Lessennes do between two rounds of the European Karting Championship? Well, he trains assiduously, he fulfils his educational obligations and … he wins races! Competing just this once in a round of the German Championship in Wackersdorf, the young Belgian, who celebrated his 15th birthday on Sunday, beat all the competition in the two KF-Junior finals contested in the rain. And that augurs well in his preparations for the rest of his karting season and a first test in a single-seater racing car on the Le Mans circuit!
Benjamin Lessennes had not made the German Championship one of his priorities this year, but the STX Motorhomes driver had a long break between the second round of the European Championship in Zuera at the beginning of June and the next meeting on the Swedish track in Kristianstad at the end of July. “The opportunity arose to enter this round of the prestigious DKM on the Wackersdorf track,” explained the lad from Charleroi. “As the German competition is the toughest national championship and it is important to maintain a rhythm, it was a just the right occasion.”
