The wind strengthened at midday for the Rotax Senior final at the Spanish round of the Euro Challenge 2014 at Zuera and the start was delayed to fix different cameras around the track. Harry Webb (Tony Kart – Strawberry Racing didn’t waver at the lights, Zachary Claman De Melo (Intrepid – Intrepid Driver Program took 2nd position ahead of Lars Lamborelle (Tony Kart – Strawberry Racing), Guan Yu Zhou ( Tony Kart – Strawberry Racing) 4th and Edward Brand (Intrepid – Intrepid Driver Program) in 5th. Xavier Pozzoli (Kosmic -. Sonic Racing Kart) was already back in the top 10 and Joseph Reilly (Tony Kart – Strawberry Racing), excluded from the prefinal, was 16th on the third time round.
Zhou attacked Lamborelle and was trying to get back to Claman Demelo, while Webb was already ahead of the race. Reilly moved into the top 10 shortly after halfway while the positions didn’t change in the chasing pack more than 2 seconds behind Webb, who set the fastest time at this time. In 2nd position, Claman Demelo however, remained under threat from Zhou and Lamborelle. Zhou prepared an attack on the last lap, Lamborelle took the opportunity to grab 2nd place, and the battle continued until the line when Zhou recovered second position by a 10th from Claman Demelo 3rd and Lamborelle 4th by 1 hundredth. Brand was 5th, Price 6th, Reilly 7th with a gain of 27 places, Hodgson 8th, Grice 9th and Lehane 10th. Out of the French, Pozzoli finally finished 16th and Nicolas Picot (Sodi – Pro Kart Racing) 25th. Webb has been very successful in the final, as well as the win he set the fastest lap and was 5” ahead of his rivals.
