Until now, for Benjamin Lessennes the 2015 season has not turned out the way the young Belgian driver would have wished. To ward off any more bad luck, “Benji” and his entourage have decided to return to the VDK Racing team, with whom they have always enjoyed such close relations. The representative of the Coyote Racing Team is motivated more than ever before the KF World Championship in Italy at the end of this week!
Scheduled to take place over the weekend of 27 September on the Italian circuit at La Conca, in Muro Leccese, the World Championship is the most important event in the entire season. To face the challenge, Benjamin finally decided to go back to basics. The young Belgian has returned to the VDK Racing team, with whom he shone in KF-Junior last year. “I have always enjoyed a great relationship with the Verdaasdonk brothers,”the driver wearing the Coyote and Motorhomes STX colours recalled, “and I’m convinced that, on the whole, we can again do great things together. I always felt good at the wheel of the Kosmic chassis and I know all its subtle nuances. As for the engine, I always had complete support from the IAME factory and I know that I will be well served. So I think I’ll be holding a trump hand and just have to hope – and t his is vital in such an event with only one final – that the cards fall in our favour.”
Benjamin will compete in the IAME International Final in the X30 Senior class, and the WSK Final Cup in Adria, again in the KF class. This final event of the season could also be the last for Benjamin in Karting. “No decision has been taken yet, but we are thinking about this,” the young man says with a smile. “I was 16 in June and can now move up to cars. But that would not be in single-seaters. The budgets required are huge and I think the horizon is a little cloudy. My aim is to become a professional driver one day and there are better prospects in touring or GT cars.”
