It was a superb final race and a magnificent spectacle for the 2016 Winter Cup in KZ2. With a good start, Marco Ardigo (Tony Kart / Vortex) took the lead ahead of the two Sodi Boys. On the second lap, Bas Lammers (Sodi / TM) had problems (probably the engine cutting out) and involuntarily slowed his teammate Anthony Abbasse (Sodi / TM). He, however, remained in the shot and settled into 1st place. Meanwhile, Paolo De Conto (CRG / Maxter) had given up during a fight with Leonardo Lorandi (Tony Kart / Vortex). Luca Corberi (Tony Kart / Vortex) came back in the wheeltracks of Abbasse, with Fabian Federer (CRG / Modena) in 3rd position.
Ardigo found his pace and quickly followed Corberi in overtaking Abbasse. Ardigo finally found the opening on his young teammate and took a great victory full of suspense. Abbasse managed to take 3rd place from Federer with determination to finally secure the podium. The Gold Boys Joel Johansson (Righetti / TM) and Davide Fore (Righetti / TM) finished 5th and 6th. Nicolas Gonzales (Sodi / TM) was in the top ten, in 7th before finishing 9th. Alexander Schmitz (Tony Kart / Vortex) set the fastest lap of 46”820 but saw his ascent interrupted by a retirement within a lap of the goal.
The application of penalties later amended the final ranking. Federer found himself 11th, Fore 15th, Camponeschi 16th, Gonzales 17th, Louis Prette (Sodi / TM) was ranked 22nd and Gabin Leuillet (Sodi / TM) 23rd.
