Dexter Patterson (Exprit / TM) took the lead on the first lap ahead of Harry Thompson (FA Kart / Vortex) and Zane Maloney (FA Kart / Vortex). The two RFM drivers immediately retook the lead. Jules Mettetal (Kosmic / Parilla) was caught in a crash at the start and Jonny Edgar (Exprit / TM) was missing. The brawl between the top three picked up again. Antoine Potty (Kosmic / Parilla) climbed to the top five in front of Jack Doohan (FA Kart / Vortex). The exit to the second hairpin on lap 6 caused some changes. Behind Patterson, Christopher Lulham (Exprit / TM) was 2nd in front of Thompson and Gabriele Bortoleto (CRG / Parilla). Maloney dropped to 11th and Doohan 13th. Victor Bernier (Tony Kart / Vortex) made an excellent start to the race in 14th place, as well as Sami Meguetounif (Tony Kart / Vortex) already 19th with 15 places regained.
Tyler Gonzales (Kosmic / Vortex) then took 4th in front of Bortoleto. Patterson outpaced Lulham by 0.673” at half distance, Thompson following by over by two seconds. Although Lulham got closer to the leader, Thompson did not seem able to catch up at the moment. Shihab Al Habsi (Tony Kart / Parilla) took advantage of an incredible rise of 10 places to return to the top five. Meguetounif gave up after the break of a rolling. Lulham caught Patterson five laps from the finish. The final sprint was launched between the two Forza Racing drivers, wheel to wheel. Both of them were fighting for franctions to the end, but Patterson cleverly controlled the situation and won the 2017 World Junior Championship ahead of Lulham. Thompson finished 3rd by 3.7”, then Al Habsi’s incredible 4th and Gonzales 5th. Bernier finished 9th with a gain of 12 positions.
