With the Junior Max, strategy returned as an element of Qualifying, the drivers waiting on the dummy grid to try to start behind the right competitor in search of slipstream. In the first session, Victor Bernier (FRA), Jan Malecek (CZE), Clayton Ravenscroft (GBR) and Mike Van Vugt (NLD) opened the debate. Tommy Foster (GBR), Hugo Vair (FRA) and Camille Prouteau (FRA) joined the fight at the front. Then Sami Meguetounif (FRA) posted an excellent time behind Foster, holder of the fastest lap with 1’00”092. Juan Jose Diaz Rodrigues (ARG) was 3rd ahead of Ravenscroft and Ivan Bataller Camare (ESP). Prouteau took 6th position, Bernier finished 9th and Vair 15th.
The second session enabled Ryan Wood (NZL) and Senna Van Walstijn (NLD) to get noticed, before Tijmen Van Der Helm (NLD) came down under a minute. With 59”918 he therefore took pole position of the category. Van Walstijn finished 2nd, Tosei Moriyama (JPN) 3rd, Kamil Donicz (POL) 4th and Broc Feeney (AUS) 5th in the session. In the overall standings, Foster was the first from the opening session, with Van Der Helme and Van Walstijn taking the lead. Moriyama was 4th in front of Donicz. Meguetounif was doing pretty well in 10th place, Prouteau was 18th, Bernier 25th and Vair 32nd.
