The sky was grey, but still dry on Sunday morning over Lonato for the last four Qualifying Heats of the FIA Karting International Super Cup – KZ2.
Giacomo Pollini (Formula K / TM) led the B-F heat up two laps to the finish then Simone Cunati (CRG / TM) went on the attack with David Trefilovs (Maranello / TM) in his wake. Trefilovs took the lead and won against Cunati, Pollini finishing 3rd despite pressure from Michele Fontana (CRG / TM). Alexander Dahlberg (Birel ART / TM) completed the top five ahead of Jean Nomblot (Sodi / TM) who had lost ground in the start. Natalia Balbo (Formula K / TM) finished 9th before being penalised.
Emilien Denner (Sodi / TM) added another victory, his sixth, to his perfect score by winning comfortably in the AE heat, 1.7” ahead of David Vidales (Tony Kart / Vortex) who managed to contain Marco Tormen ( Praga / TM). Thomas Landais (Sodi / TM) finished 4th after having successfully resisted the threat from Andrea Dalé (CRG / TM) who was up to 5th. Paul Evrard (Kosmic / Vortex) was 10th while Paolo Besancenez (Sodi / TM) was 14th.
In the D-G heat, Paavo Tonteri (Tony Kart / Vortex) jumped to 2nd place with an excellent start, behind Danilo Albanese (Tony Kart / Vortex), while Senna Van Walstijn (KR / Iame) was 3rd. The slow procedure was initiated following an accident involving Alessio Piccini (Tony Kart / Vortex). After the restart, Van Walstijn came back to 2nd and ended up overtaking Albanese a few corners from the finish. Filippo Berto (Birel ART / TM) finished 3rd ahead of Tonteri, Tom Leuillet (Praga / TM) was 7th and Hubert Petit (Sodi / TM) 9th with a six-place gain.
Emil Skaras (Energy / TM) took the lead straight away, David Trefilovs (Maranello / TM) took 2nd place ahead of Michele Fontana (CRG / TM) and Francesco Iacovacci (Maranello / TM) was in 4th position. Skaras won clearly against Trefilovs and Fontana while Matej Kacovsky (KR / Iame) took 4th place ahead of Iacovacci.
Overall Emilien Denner logically held 1st place against Emil Skaras, while David Vidales finished 3rd. Giacomo Pollini and Michele Fontana completed the top five, followed by Marco Tormen in 6th, Senna van Walstijn 7th, Simone Cunati 8th, Paolo Ippolito 9th and Alexander Dahlberg 10th. Thomas Landais was 11th, and Jean Nomblot qualified 24th ahead of Tom Leuillet. Hubert Petit came back from 53rd to 29th.
