The vagaries of 2020, marked by the COVID-19 pandemic, have led to the 7th edition of the FIA Historic Super Cup Karting being held again in Lonato (ITA) on the South Garda Karting circuit. As last year, it will share the stage, on 3rd and 4th October, with the FIA Karting World Championship – KZ, the FIA Karting International Super Cup – KZ2 and the last Competition of the FIA Karting Academy Trophy.
The list of entrants includes 34 Drivers from eleven different countries, more than half of whom are in the ClasCIK 1 and 2 classes dedicated to the glorious beginnings of the history of karting between 1956 and 1971. Former CIK-FIA Vice-President Kees van De Grint could not miss the opportunity to take his place in this blue ribbon panel of enlightened connoisseurs. As last year, between the various on-track demonstrations, which are always highly appreciated, the venerable machines will be on display in the Lonato paddock and the specialists will be able to provide any explanation necessary to promote understanding and appreciation of the technical evolution of the discipline.
These conversations between enthusiasts from multiple generations are some of the highlights of such an event, helping to open minds to a history full of lessons that should be learned in order to appreciate the present and future of karting.
