The Aunay-les-Bois Final of the FIA Karting European Junior Championship took advantage of a dry track and good weather.
A collision triggered the Slow procedure at the exit of the second corner of the first lap. Harley Keeble (Tony Kart/Vortex), Enzo Deligny (Parolin/TM), Coskun Irfan (KR/Iame) were among the six victims of the early race. The race was restarted on lap 4 with Freddie Slater (Kosmic/Vortex) breaking away ahead of Kirill Kutskov (KR/Iame) and Alex Powell (KR/Iame). Matheus Ferreira (KR/Iame) was ahead of William Macintyre (Birel ART/TM) but Maxim Rehm (Kosmic/Vortex) and Luka Sammalisto (KR/Iame) disappeared after a collision. Arthur Poulain (Kosmic/Vortex) was back in 6th place behind Tomass Stolcermanis (Energy/TM). Slater was leading without increasing his lead of 7 tenths over Kutskov while Ferreira had moved up to 3rd ahead of Powell and Macintyre had dropped to 8th.
In the second half of the race, Slater increased his advantage over the chasing KR Motorsport trio by more than a second. Meanwhile, the battles were raging at all levels. Ferreira was threatening Kutskov’s 2nd place, while Stolcermanis was closing in on Powell. Ferreira took 2nd place with two laps to go, with Stolcermanis moving up to 3rd shortly after. Slater crossed the finish line 8 tenths ahead, but dropped back to 10th after a 10″ penalty for a too strong restart after the slow. Ferreira was declared the winner ahead of Kutskov and Stolcermanis, followed by Maksimilian Popov (Tony Kart/Vortex) and Powell. Poulain was penalised in 8th position and Augustin Bernier (KR/Iame), 18th on the line, was not compliant.
