The weather was still good on Sunday morning in Sarno for the last three heats of the FIA Karting European Championship – Junior.
Coskun Irfan (KR/Iame) led his teammate Matheus Ferreira (KR/Iame) by 26 thousandths on the finish line of the E-F heat. Andres Cardenas (KR/Iame) took 3rd place ahead of the two RFM riders Enea Frey (Kosmic/Vortex) and Maxim Rehm (Kosmic/Vortex). Douwe Dedecker (KR/Iame) started in the lead and finished in 6th place, while Kirill Kutskov continued to make up ground in 6th place, gaining tenplaces. Jimmy Helias (Tony Kart/Vortex) took 8th place, while Arthur Poulain (Kosmic/Vortex) finished 14th. Maxens Verbrugge (Kosmic/Vortex) drove a good race and climbed up to 10th position, but he crashed to 17th on the last lap.
After several changes of leadership, Kai Sorensen (Exprit/TM) took the lead in the C-D heat, while Harley Keeble (Tony Kart/Vortex) came back to second ahead of Gustaw Wisniewki (KR/Iame). Dion Gowda (Kosmic/Vortex) eventually recovered 4th place ahead of Yevan David (Exprit/TM). William Macintyre (Birel ART/TM) had some problems and fell to 21st. Jules Caranta (KR/Iame) lost several places at the beginning of the race before coming back to 18th ahead of Guillaume Bouzar (Parolin/TM).
The last A-B heat brought together several top drivers capable of aiming for the Final victory. James Egozi (Tony Kart/Vortex) was ahead of Anatoly Khavalkin (Parolin/TM) and Rashid Al Dhaheri (Parolin/TM). Antonio Apicella (KR/Iame) was 4th ahead of Freddie Slater (Kosmic/Vortex) and Alex Powell (KR/Iame) 7th. Khavalkin overtook Egozi at the halfway point and Slater came back to 3rd. Khavalkin won the race and took pole position for the Final ahead of Egozi. Slater was 3rd ahead of Al Dhaheri and Salim Hanna (Kosmic/Vortex), with Powell settling for 6th place which gave him 4th on the grid for the Final behind Matheus Fereira. The French were grouped at the back of the field with Andy Ratel (CRG/TM) 21st, Arthur Dorison (Sodi/TM) 23rd, Mathis Soubadou (KR/Iame) having retired on the last lap and Augustin Bernier (KR/Iame) having been stopped by the black flag for cutting the track.
