In the sun, the temperature had risen to 10° in the afternoon at the time of the KZ2 Final of the WSK Super Master Series #1 in Lonato. Tom Leuillet (Birel ART/TM) was 3rd on the grid and the first of the seven French qualifiers, clearly well recovered from his severe accident on this track last year.
Senna van Walstijn (Sodi/TM) jumped ahead of David Trefilov (Maranello/TM) at the end of the first lap with a 1” lead. Paavo Tonteri (CRG/TM) was 3rd ahead of Leuillet and Stan Pex (KR/TM). Emilien Denner (Sodi/TM) ended a very difficult weekend with another blow to the last position. Trefilov dropped back to 4th place, followed by Arthur Carbonnel (Sodi/TM), Giuseppe Palomba (Birel ART/TM) and Jérémy Iglesias (CRG/TM). Pedro Hiltbrand (Birel ART/TM) had recovered five places in 8th position. Leuillet was not intimidated by Trefilov. The Frenchman soon attacked Tonteri for 2nd place. Thomas Imbourg (Sodi/TM) had passed Adrien Renaudin (Tony Kart/Vortex) for 15th place. At mid-race, Van Walstijn had a 1,7” lead over Leuillet, followed by Trefilov, Palomba, Iglesias and Hiltbrand in 6th place, holder of the fastest lap. The leader lost some of his advantage in a few laps, mainly in sector 1. Leuillet disappeared on the 15th lap while being followed by Trefilov. Hiltbrand was still the fastest driver on the track and moved up to 3rd place, 4 tenths behind Trefilov. Although van Walstijn was leading comfortably, the battle for 2nd place was becoming tense. Trefilov lost out to Hiltbrand who escaped. Van Walstijn got a second victory within a week, 1,7″ ahead of Hiltbrand, who moved up 11 positions. Trefilov took 3rd place despite the pressure of Iglesias and Palomba. Carbonnel secured 7th place, Imbourg finished 20th, Paul Loussier (Sodi/TM) 22nd and Denner 30th.
